Sarah Wise is a PhD candidate in the Computational Social Science department who graduated from the University of Chicago in 2009 with a double major in Computer Science and East Asian Cultures and Language. Sarah was a recipient of the George Mason University, three-year Presidential Scholarship.

From 2006 to 2009, she had the great privilege of working at Argonne National Laboratory in the Decision and Information Sciences division under John Christiansen on the Modeling Ancient Settlement Systems (MASS) project. One of the ways in which Sarah hopes to apply her work in simulation is to the realm of policy, building simulations to help policymakers craft more robust models to help understand and manage problems such as health care, energy policy, and space exploration.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys hard science fiction and mass transportation. Her blog is available here.
