Joey Harrison, CSS PhD Candidate
Computational Social Science
George Mason University

ABSTRACT: Interest in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) plummets in American youth between 5th and 8th grade. I will present an Agent-Based Model that explores the causes of this decline and attempts to identify solutions. This work is part of the Synergies project, lead by a team of education researchers at Oregon State who are conducting extensive annual surveys of a cohort of students.
