Abstract: We consider research frontiers and challenges for an especially promising and interesting future for Computational Social Science. This future CSS is a complement for our traditional CSS modeling; greatly strengthened by big data, analytics, real-time sensing (both from socio-economic data streams and from the internet of things), distributed systems, and coordination. Future CSS research frontiers address complex dynamics of systems and community resilience, in addition to the usual model-specific fundamentals. These frontiers are likely to bring increased relevance, broader impact, scalable funding, and effective integration with smart cloud-based systems of other kinds.
